A Kathmandu l'artiste Ashmina Ranjit a fait des
performances sur le thème des menstruations (mars 2010).
Elle a recouvert les WC de L'Alliance Française qui la faisait intervenir de serviettes périodiques, a performé les règles, et a travaillé auprès des jeunes filles de Kathmandu pour lever les tabous sur les menstruations.

Larger finely decorated mamouli were part of the royal treasuries and were seen as wholly heirloom objects that were passed down through the family line under the ritual control of the raja and his priest Mamouli can be worn as pendants earrings or even pinned to the traditional costume.
